Looking at getting something different for my 97's front speakers. I had put Kenwood Concert Series speakers in them 6 months ago, but just really lacking bass, even with my phone's eq on bass boost. If I turn up the bass it sounds very dull and nasty. Just looking for a speaker that has nice bass in it, which I have narrowed down to JBL GX628 vs. Kicker KSC650. I'm looking at spending less than $100 for speakers. Just wondered if anyone had either of these speakers.

Edit: I could factor in these as well: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/alpine...d-plastic-cones-black/6195083.p?skuId=6195083

Between those two, I would go with the Kicker KS series. I run an older version of them in the front doors of my Suburban and they sound great. I'm having some difficulty finding full specs for the JBLs, are they an older model? Regardless, they have worse power handling than the Kickers, and they list their tweeter materials ambiguously as "soft domes," while the Kickers are listed as actual silk domes.

EDIT - Actually it's an older version of these KS components that I run in my Suburban, not the coaxials.

Those Alpine components look decent, but once again I would go with the Kicker KS.

I was kinda leaning towards the Kickers as well, do your Kickers in your Suburban have decent bass?

Yeah they've got great bass response for what they are. Minimum frequency response is listed at 35Hz, which is pretty damn low for a 6.5" woofer.

That great to hear! Looked up the spec sheet for my Kenwood KFC-650's and the minimum frequency response is 75Hz, would that explain the lack of bass?

Yeah, that's definitely a big part of it.

If you can swing a little extra cash I'd go for those Kicker KSS6504 components I linked earlier. Same 35Hz minimum frequency response and a separate silk dome tweeter that you can mount in the factory location.

Those are a little out of my price range, but they look awesome though. Thanks for the help! I think I will try the KSC650's tomorrow. :)

Bought the KSC650 Kickers this morning and hooked them up right after I got home. Wow what a difference! I can feel the bass now, has nice punch when the bass drum kicks, and they don't sound dull when you turn up the bass. I am very impressed. Thanks @df2x4 for persuading me to get the Kickers. :D
