Key will not release from ignition

What do you think a remedy maybe. I tried a new ignition and same thing while in the column. The old one will not release in or out. It will not turn back to lock the wheel. The shift indicator stays on also.

Shift cable ?

Its something to do with your shifter, when you put it in park slam it up to make sure its all the way in. Solved my problem at least and my shift cable is messed up too. Good luck.
