Seems like the "security" light stays on with this method.

Sounds like it's meant for things like boom trucks and whatnot.

Sounds like. Until you removed the batteries (or dead battery) and then you're back to passlock enabled.

Did it and worked great for remote starts without a diode. Remove security light bulb and use a toggle switch under the dash in case you need to start it after a dead battery or something else trips it. Just start truck then flip switch, factory bypass complete.
