In the mean time since its your daily driver truck, over-fill that 10-bolt with some Lucas and banana peels. People laugh at the banana peels but it works to extend the life of a rear end destined for the graveyard anyway.

When the 8.5" axles finally give up the Ghost, the broken pieces from the exploded differential/axle housing can and sometimes do lock both rear wheels.

In a parking lot, you call the tow-truck. That was my buddy with the '89 K1500.

On the highway, you call the ambulance or the coroner.

This when my g80 exploded at like 15mph. It locked up a bit,And took out the transmission forward sprag.
