What is the best intake manifold gasket kit to use on an Edelbrock 3704 Performer? I already did this once and used the fel-pro MS93317 and it didn't have the front or rear gasket strips, and ended up leaking on the back side even with rtv. I've got the 10088113 aluminum heads on it and really don't feel like doing this a 3rd time. I tried Summit and Edelbrock, but both of their tech support lines are closed and I don't wanna leave the intake off off it with it getting down to freezing all week. I'm considering one of the two in the screenshot, but i'm not quite sure, because I REALLY don't want to do this again, I can't stress that enough, lol

Don't use the gaskets on the china rails, use Permatex The Right Stuff and build it up using a zig-zag motion along with some around the water jacket ports.

Yeah, that's what I used and it still leaked on the rear passenger side by the distributor. But that's the only place it did, and I'm not positive but that looks like an abnormally wide gap compared to the front. I also have to put the black rtv on that sending unit...forgot all about that

Also, what's up with the closed water jackets on those fel-pro gaskets I used in that 2nd picture? All of the other "high performance" gaskets i've looked at were open.

In your picture that is no where near enough sealant. It needs to look like a built up weld bead. Look at how much squeezed out it my picture.
Edit: Plus you need to put some sealant on the tabs at the bottom of the gaskets where they meet the china rails.

FWIU, TBI engines had a little hole in those ports, I don't know why but that's GM's design.

Yeah, I knew it was pretty thin, but my dad (the master mechanic) insisted that it just needed a thin layer on the backside...But he also said my rocker arms should have alot of play in em. Of course, I didn't listen and they turned out great after a couple of adjustments when he left, lol. I appreciate the input, and i'm gonna go ahead and re-buy these gaskets only 2 weeks later and see how it turns out with a significantly thicker bead. I'll reply back within a couple days and let u know how it turns out after it's all cured

This vid shows a good shot of how much RTV chili’s be on the China walls.

Here are the pages from the manual that cover the RTV thickness, I hope it will help.

Well, i've driven it twice now, and so far so good. Not seeing any kind of moisture in the usual places. Everything appears to be in order here
