Fun info tidbit: the V12 Jags had TH400s with different bellhousings. The V6 Jags got BW55s. They also used GM power steering pumps with metric inlets. I have almost identical steering pumps on my Jag, my Cadillac, and my Stepside, but none will bolt in any of the others.

How about just swapping a 7.4 Vortec with wiring harness and ECU? If you work in the salvage yard business maybe you can get one inexpensively?

The newer engine will have a bit more HP and torque. I think they also used 4 bolt mains?

Just a thought. Lot's of good write ups on this website in engine swaps.
