Its been a while, again. Little update on what has been going on recently. I have continued on this mission and have learned quite a few things and am looking at it from a new perspective of sorts. I want to get a little preview look of what it going on inside the trans, so I am going to drop the pan to see if there is any burnt material or metal shavings, anything substantial that would warrant buying a new trans. If everything seems fine, my father thinks that it could possibly be a shift solenoid, specifically the 2-3 solenoid I think is what he said. I personally don't think that is the issue, because if it was electrical, it wouldn't sound like it is eating itself alive. That "pop/bang" I talked about previously seems to be happening more frequently and recently it has seemed like the trans has overall been getting worn out and tired. I believe that the previous talk about the 3-4 pack being wiped might be accurate. I've been watching videos on Youtube about transmissions and such and it all started to make sense.
(My code 72 is gone btw!)

My carb swap plans still stand, I have been having fuel issues since I bought the truck, I've gone through 3 fuel pumps in the past year and I think its a sign. A big part of why I want to do a carb swap is because of power gains, I personally think that there is WAY more opportunities to make more power with a carb than there ever would be with the TBI system. The TBI system is great and all, but I myself have a hard time with things that I don't understand (I'm old school). I plan on swapping out most of the top end of the motor. I want to buy some REAL Vortec heads, a new valvetrain, new ignition system, the whole shebang. I already have most of the parts to do the swap, I just need to find the time (and good heads) to do it. I want to make at least 350hp out of it when I'm done, which I think it very achievable.

Little wholesome update too, I have finally found a name for the truck. I have decided to name her Cheyenne. Midnight Chey as her street name. My uncle likes to call her Chop Shop since she's made up of so many different trucks. Thought I'd include this just cause, I hope yall have a great night, and ill be sure to keep you all updated!

Have we checked the level or condition of the transmission fluid in 7 pages of responses? Is the fluid brown and smell burnt? There's obviously several other compounding issues, but to me it's like watching someone fight an electrical problem forever but doesn't check the fuses.

Morbid curiosity probably...

Yes, I have checked the fluid, it is overfilled from the previous owner, but it doesn't look burnt or miscolored, and it doesn't smell burnt. Hints why I am going to take a deeper look into it.

Gents, is it possible this poor guy has a Frankenstein mixture of parts from a PWM transmission on a non-PWM truck or maybe it's running a computer designed for PWM on a non-PWM trans?

The engine clearly isn't original, and looks to me like it could be a Vortec 1996+ engine with TBI parts fabricobbled onto it. Would any of the potential computer parts robbed off the donor be the "wrong" computer module for this transmission?

The truck is a Frankenstein for sure, but I think the motor is just an LO5 350 TBI motor. I am sad to report, I don't think there is anything Vortec about my motor. The title says the truck is a 1995 K1500, which it very much is not. The VIN comes back to a red 1995 extended cab, v6 5 speed manual, which if also is not. My truck is (I think) a 1995 C1500 5.7 TBI with a 4L60-e, and a bad 4L60-e at that. She's been real slippy recently.

Yikes. That is quite the mess.
