Hauling anything with these trucks is unsafe unless you've replaced your brake lines. Imo..
That's a pretty good losd.Happy to hear you made there ok.

The truck spent it's life in Arizona. No rust out there so all lines, mounts etc are good. I actually had no idea how heavy it was till I made it to Joplin and curiosity got the best of me. I would not have left AZ knowing it was that heavy. But since it was too late by then I may as well pat my truck on the back. Ha ha

A couple days ago I hauled 1900lbs of gravel and pave stone in my 96 Z71. My father bought it new in 96 and ever since he drove it off the showroom it has been his work truck. My father and I pulled just about any boat we could hook it up to. One of them being a 25ft Contender weighing about 7100lbs ready to fish not including trailer weight, and a 31ft fish boat weighing marginally more.

When I had my 96 C1500, I had about 2500 lbs in the bed once. I had 20 x 80 lb bags of concrete and 8 x 8'x6x6 pressure treated posts, along with a bunch of other wood.
But I had 32x11.5R15 tires on it, and an add-a-leaf in the back. It was sitting about 2" lower than normal in the back.

I used to to haul 7500lbs of boat and trailer in my 95 C1500 with a 350 and 4L60E.

Did 2500lbs in the bed with 2500lbs in a trailer behind the truck once. Stops were on the axle with the tires sticking out a bit. :)

Now I haul 4500lbs of boat and trailer, plus other stuff. I have 309k on the truck now - 3rd 4L60E but original engine, never had the valve covers off.

What kind of motor is that? Looks like an industrial diesel?

Pulled a 35' triple axle with a mini excavator and a bobcat on it for about 45 miles with my 95 c1500 on 33s. Motor sounded angry when I stopped at job site, wouldn't start back up afterwards. Spun a rod bearing, boss man bought me a reman motor tho and gave me a paid day off to put it in.

Now I pull my 19' double axle 1980 camper behind my 97 z71 on 35s with ac Delco air shocks. No problems but that camper is HEAVY! before airshocks almost bottomed suspension out. Only pull that thing a few times a year and not too far from home tho.
