Has anyone made HD tie rods with heim joints? I'm going to be lifting my truck by the end of the year and I'm trying to eliminate as many weak points as possible. I'm getting boxed uni ball uppers made and I'd figure tie rods would be nice as well. Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

If it's something you're going to be driving on the street, heims are usually not a good idea. They tend to wear out quickly because they are open to the elements and non greaseable. A better idea in my opinion is to run 1 ton tie rod ends, and have what ever parts you need reamed to the correct taper. You can buy tube adapters to make your own steering links.

If you want to make the adjustments easy, yes. You need a left and a right for each rod. Also don't forget jamb nuts, one for each tie rod end. When i do cross over type steering on straight axles, I usually do all right hand thread, it makes adjustments a ***** because you have to remove one end to be able to spin the rod. But, it's cheaper and you only need to have one on hand as a trail spare.

Oh, something I forgot to mention. If you're not comfortable welding tube adapters for steering, you could always go have the DOM tubing cut to length and threaded with the 7/8 x 18 threads. 1" x .25 tubing works well (3/4" i.d.)
