Heater controls

Hey y’all I just noticed that my heater is not directing heat to specified areas it’s just coming out from dash vs I usually keep it on the floor because heat rises and keeps everyone warm but not overly warm but I’m seeing if it’s the control that isn’t working or another part that directs the air I know I don’t hear it switching as usual from one vents to another. But I also have my dash bezel off still and would that make it not direct the air properly due to back pressure or something? Any info is appreciated before I start buying anything I hope to goto yard Saturday morning to get new heater control and possibly some other bits but I need call first to see.

It's generally going to be 1 of 3 suspects, and I'd check these in order:

1. Linkage sliders on the vent position actuator have gummed up or fallen off

2. Controls gone bad

3. Flap inside the HVAC box broken
