Headers help

I have a 1989 Chevy c1500 single cab long box. I am wanting headers. I don’t know what I need to purchase for them. Is there an exhaust kit? Do I just need a new y pipe. What will I need for headers and what headers will work. Completely stock truck. I don’t know much about headers but I would like the truck to sound deep and loud

"Deep and loud" is more about pipes and mufflers than it is about headers.

"Loud" will make you a target of various police agencies. Also pis_ses-off the general public. NOT recommended.

Some. Not a lot, unless they leak.

What kind are you looking at?
There are full length, mid and shorty's. All have their own "issues."
Shorty's are usually a stock replacement and bolt up to the factory Y, same with some mids as I recall. Full length will have to do some custom work to get it hooked back up to the stock system or a full new one, ether from a shop or build your own.

Get on YouTube and find sound clips. They'll be a good starting point for figuring out the sound you want.
