Hello this is my first ever post on a website of any kind like this so bare with me. I have a 1990 single cab short bed that came with a L/B 454. Engine has been rebuilt with a Comp cam flat tappet kit and I’m trying to find what kind of headers to use without doing major notching and cutting on the frame. Thank you guys

Fortunately for us Chevy made the 454ss trucks, so the aftermarket does have some headers that will fit your truck.

JBA Headers 6822S

Ho@ker Headers 2461HKR

Hedman Hedders 69571

JBA Headers 1822S-2

Ho@ker Headers 2847HKR

Hope this helps.

I've not been able to find inexpensive 454 header options for our trucks, plan to spend around 500 bucks. I've got a set of big block headers for a square that I'm going to try and use, dunno what I'll have to mess with to make them work.

The frame in these trucks just won't allow a square body header to get close to fitting. I found these today Patriot Exhaust H8058 Headers, 92-95 Chevy Truck, Raw, 1-3/4 Inch - $294 from Speedway motors.

So the patriot headers mentioned above are listed for 92-95 (TBI) big block. Any reason why they wouldn't work on a Vortec big block?

It's my understanding that the difference between TBi and vortec headers is the egr port. If needed you have to weld a bunch for it in. I have not verified this myself, but would love long tubes on my 98

There's only one O2 sensor bung on the TBI headers. That's the only difference that matters to me, EGR is tuned out.
I can't give any performance or sound information yet, they're still sitting on the shop floor while I attend to other matters on the truck.

Good point. I forgot about single bank fueling. An O2 bung is pretty easy to add. If tuning probably want an extra for wide band anyway.
