Given this thing has the more modern trim strips that cover the roof weld seams, I decided to eat the elephant one bite at a time.

Tailgate and roof on day one.

The rest of the truck on day two.
I'm a big fan of spraying vertically. Dust nibs are inevitable, especially in a home shop that isn't designed for spraying. Horizontal=lots of 'blackheads' in the clear.
Vertical=clearasil for cleaner, healthier appearance.
So, since I hate cutting and buffing more than I have to, the hood got hung on the wall.

That Light Huron Blue never looked so good.

Started bolting it back together with some new plastic bits

Opted for a 'smooth' bedliner application on the lower white. Durabak was rolled on with a 1/4" foam roller for a heavy 'orange peel' effect. This should protect against rock chips nicely.

One thing that always looked out of place was the black worktruck bumper. It stood out in sharp contrast to the white lower stripe.

So, after a scuff and rattle can spray of primer, it got covered in white Durabak as well.

The original molding went back on with some fresh 3M molding tape and was complimented by some fresh wheel arch trim

Found a seller on eBay who refurbished factory badges. I don't see how they do it. These look brand new.

After this, I did some reading on drivability issues with the engine and threw the parts cannon at the most common suggestions.

New:
PCV valve (OBD1 fault code shown)
PCV hose
EGR valve
MAP sensor
Coolant temp sensor (for engine management, not gauge)
Fuel pressure diaphragm in throttle body.

The engine runs much better without any codes.

Still has an occasional hesitation or lope at idle, especially in gear. Honestly believe it is a vacuum leak somewhere since it goes away when driving.

Great job!!!
Your first post had me tricked. Thought you were just getting ready to start. But ya.... you already did it!!! Fantastic. You should be proud, I know your great grampa would be!
It's called 'moving in silence', haha. Keep your head down, knock out the goal, then let the results do all the bragging. I pretty much joined so I can research issues and have the linked images show when reading through other's threads. But still thought I should at least introduce the vehicle my questions will be concerning.
