If ur a 88-91 u can only use 2500 6 rotors from a 88-91

The 1" thick 5 lug rotors on 88-91 are for regular cab C1500's that are not equipped with heavy duty brakes. If they were extended cab they'd come with 1.25". From 92-up all C1500's got the 1.25" rotors regardless of regular/extended cab.

Now on to the 2500 6-lug (7200lb GVWR) trucks; regardless of year, if it's a 2500 6-lug it's got the 1.25" rotors. Those trucks came with HD brakes either way because of the rest of the equipment package to achieve the 7200lb GVWR. Look 'em up... RPO C5Z = 7200lb GVWR which is what a 6-lug 2500 is by design.

SO...if you're converting an 88-91 REGULAR cab C1500 that did not come with HD brakes (and typically they did not), to use 2500 6-lug rotors, you gotta change spindles too.

ok just so I follow this:

88-91 c1500 std brakes in a 5stud - I can swap the front rotors from a c2500 straight on. - correct?

now if I want a thicker rotor I need a later spindle spindle and caliper set up from 92 -98. - correct?

what if I want to carry over an ABS system from a donor vehicle?

the rear end is easy. 6 lug cad escalade I already have in my possession. (full vehicle actually)

No. The C2500 "light duty" (six lug) rotors are 1.25" just like HD brakes on a 1500, so if you don't already have HD brakes, you'll need the spindles as well.

ok that makes sense now. so for me I need the spindles off the 92 up extended cab. and since I am carrying over an ABS system assumption would be I would need it off an ext cab from 96up.

am I right?

1992-up any cab, 1988-1991 extended cab. If you want the junk for the front ABS sensors then 1995-up. Can't say I can buy into the idea of retrofitting 4WAL to an older truck; sounds like a good bit of trouble.

for me I have the entire donor vehicle and in the past I have dumped everything off of a donor into a similar body without issue. having the wheel sensors in place will allow me to do other things such as traction control which is something I am going to need on this truck.

(my background is electronics.)

thanks for the help!!
