All,
My 1999 K1500 is reading about 30% too fast (speedometer), causing the odometer to also read 30% fast. Presumably the prior owner had larger wheels/tires on it and had it re calibrated, however, I've also heard that this is a common failure point on the GMT400.
What is the most cost-effective way of fixing this speedometer/odometer situation? I called the stealership and they want $600 to replace the cluster and reprogram the PCM. There has to be a cheaper/easier way to re calibrate a speedometer on this truck, right? Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.
