Fuel filter- constant flow out fuel line

In MY driveway, having fuel dribble out of the plumbing when the filter is replaced, is encouragement to WORK FASTER.

Especially after the government made it liquid gold!

so..... purging the line with the shrader valve is not common practice. interesting. haha.

I thought OP was working on a TBI? There's no Schrader valve on my TBI ('89 5.7L). Just curious, what PSI do you use when you purge the line?

You drop the tank or lift the bed to change a fuel filter?

Neither, I just reach around the frame from the outside to the top of the tank.

@Sportbike23 your right, the TBI also relieves itself of pressure unlike the 96+ trucks. no, it was my mistake in the beginning, I didn't realize he was working on a TBI truck. purge is the wrong word as it doesn't drain the line it just relieves the pressure so it dosent spray everywhere.

I only knew about that procedure from the one time I read about it and did it 8 or more years ago on my 97 Burb.

when I started to remove the fuel filter it was clearly under pressure and I started to make a big mess.

I read the procedure in the Haynes manual and it definitely helped me.

im sorry I just forgot that this truck is TBI again.... I had a 94 Burb but it ran practically perfect and I never really had to do any engine work. I guess I did swap the fuel filter as well and while that was like 12 years ago now.... I dont remember doing anything and probably did spill some fuel.
