So i got the shifter in mail today. Its a console shifter from a 2006 buick lacrosse. Appears the connection is for a front exit setup.

Since normaly the cable would have been in column, any certain way i need to route it? i would imagine pulling the shifter back would in theory pull the cable also, which would be backwards for the other end on range selector on side of transmission. do i need to hook it uo from rear, just leave ebough room for the handle to still be able to move?

It should be routed under the carpet on the drivers side floor like the stock one.

When a gear is normally selected, the range selector on side of transmission moves forward. meaning pulling straight back on shifter in vehicle.

but if the cable comes in frim front, wouldn’t the selector try to go backwards instead.

or am i over thinking this
