Lol you guys know how to make me feel a little better! That's pretty much the only rust worth mentioning. Everything else is surface. This was rot. Back half of the frame was jus por15 in the last 3 week's along with new 2" lowering leaf spring hangers and bushings. And the metal was solid back there. I guess I wouldn't think one could patch weld to something that terrible!

yep and a stick welder can punch through rust pretty effectively, I forgot which one was the 'farmers rod' for heavy rust penetration... 6010, 6011 or 6013?

It was 6013 but that rod is hard to do vertical up welds. 6011 is easier. Clean it up and use 7018 or wire feed ER70S.

What do you mean clean it up and use wire feed? You mean after the 6013? Trying to get an understanding. Im assuming you've done this a few times! Lol

No, sorry for the confusion. 7018 and ER70S have a higher tensile strength. The 1st 2 numbers on welding rod are tensile strength ie 6011 is 60,000LBS, the 3rd number is position so a 1 means vertical/horizontal, and the last # is the flux. So, both 7018 and the ER70S are 70,000LBS tensile strength.

What I meant was clean up the rust and use a higher tensile strength.

You can patch that no problem. Is that the only bad spot?

Okay so I cleaned it up a bit. Still think this is weld worthy? And I happened to find a crack in the frame!! Gah all those hours of work spent for nothing! Lmao. Trying to stay positive here.

Tough to see with it all zoomed in, kinda looks like a part where 2 sections get joined together on that last pic.
