Saw a pair of “new” Vortec heads. The seller claims a 168 cc chamber and 180 CC intake runner. Is this a scam? Are those numbers good? I know most Vortec heads are 164 CC. He also claims these heads can handle something like 575 of lift curios if I should drive out and buy these since every other good Vortec heads goes out of stock on every website

There's a few aftermarket aluminum heads out there from Raptor Engines, Summit and AFR that may be able to take 0.575" lift. A cast iron stock set of heads accepting 0.575" lift is iffy. Most will mill the spring seat and valve guide boss down or install a different set of keepers and retainers to get the lift up to 0.525", but I have yet to hear of 0.575"! Do-able? Probably, but it would require some taller springs, milled spring seats and what not. I've opted out and installed a set of comp cams keepers and LS retainer on top of a set of PAC 1218 springs to keep my cam in check. IIRC I'm only running around 0.460" exh, 0.480" int lift on 1.6 roller rockers on my HT383 cam. I would ask them to get a casting number to you and see what it comes up as.
