ERROR 34, injection timing stepper motor fault

Hello folks!
Finally I start my engine but but but...
On the dash appear a error signal:

Engine Chevy 6.5 TD 1994
ERROR 34, INJECTIONS TIMING STEPPER MOTOR FAULT.

Can someone explain to me something more?
Maybe with a picture where looking which part is it?
And, this error, is dangerous for engine?
Maybe my is a stupid question but try to forgive me!

The stepper motor is on the lower left of the injection pump. Have you ever had the injection pump off the engine? If you have the timing could be off.


I'm still learning about some of the things on the 6.5 even though I've had mine 3 years now. I would suggest going over to https://www.dieselplace.com/forums/6-5l-diesel-engine.21/. There is a lot of knowlegdeable people over there for this engine.

I'm still learning about some of the things on the 6.5 even though I've had mine 3 years now. I would suggest going over to https://www.dieselplace.com/forums/6-5l-diesel-engine.21/. There is a lot of knowlegdeable people over there for this engine.
Yes, I fully rebuilt my engine and injection working perfect when I stop my car.
Ok, I will go there right now and check.

I think one more question.
This problem, can damage engine some how?

I don't know for sure. It might in the long run since it can't adjust the timing of pump like the PCM wants to. The injection pump needs the base timing set just like a distributor then the PCM takes over for the fine tuning adjustments
