I recently purchased a LQ4 from a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500hd and I was wondering if it is the original engine or not. Looking at the engraved numbers on the drivers side of the block above the oil filter it reads "A37205 2914". None of that matches the VIN from the truck I pulled it from. I'm trying to figure out what year the engine actually is, assuming it's not the original engine.
Am I looking at the right number?
The donor truck's VIN is 1gtgk29ux2z140419.
Thanks!

That's just going to be a serial or production number when the block was machined.
Gonna be next to impossible to tell if the 6L is original or not. "Numbers matching" isn't really a thing anymore

95 rcsb, L33 5.3, hot cam, frost tune, 5spd, 4/6

I ended up finding a date code on the engine and it's a 2005. It's on the passenger side front of the block right under the head.
