I am not aware of JD9 brakes. I've heard of JF9, on the C3500. (Chassis/Cab?)

My '97 service manual describes the JF9 brakes as using Bendix "sliding" calipers instead of Delco "floating" calipers (Like the crappy old Ford calipers, held in place with a leaf-spring, an aluminum keyway, and an Allen-socket bolt) along with disc brakes in the rear.

My '88 manual shows a series of "JN" brakes, 1 through 8 with some missing numbers.

You're 100% right, I was looking at what I thought was the RPO tag for my suburban (cell phone pic), but it was for my avalanche. After reading your reply, I went and checked again and realized what I had done. Thanks for taking the time to post that, the brakes weren't the only tree I was barking up that wasn't making sense. I have the pics properly labeled now, lol.
