It mounts on the windshield just like your current mirror. Unscrew, remove old one, install new mirror, and tighten screw.

Are these auto dimming? Also do you have to do a compass swing to calibrate it to magnetic north, or when you plug it in, can it already read magnetic north?

These are auto dimming yes. To calibrate the compass, you drive slowly in a circle while CALC flashes on the display until it stops flashing. Usually takes 4-6 circles in the Kroger parking lot
