drive shaft carrier bearing

Buddy at work tricked me, told me to change out the carrier bearing, so I went and bought the part...
I do not have one...
4wd regular cab 8 foot bed so the question is who has 4wd and a carrier bearing extended cab? four door cab? I will return the part and fix the other issue with my guy.
I am hoping no 4wd drive has a carrier bearing and the parts guys are just wrong. Are all the parts guys wrong, I specifically asked is does that apply to a 4wd not 2wd, rear wheel drive.
