You will have to recalibrate the MAF transfer function in the PCM but that being said a V8 Vortec MAF is the same as an aluminum head LT1 or LS1 application. Same MAF as a 94-2002 Camaro or Firebird or 94-00ish Corvette. All use the 3.5" MAF. Cast iron head LT1 like a Caprice or Roadmaster and a 4.3 V6 use the 3" MAF. The newer body style GMT800 4.3 and 5.7L trucks use the 85mm LS truck MAFs.

Do you regularly run WOT to redline? If not dont bother. If you do and want to get .05 real HP / 25 Butt HP you can push the screen out of the factory MAF. If you do push the screen out be prepared to lose drivability down low where most people spend 99.99% of their time.
