Well, it works on the oldsmobile i have and that they came in by serial data from the PCMs that used PROM chips. So not the vortec PCM.Ooooh I want one of thosewonder if it'd work with the Vortec PCM tho...

I looked at the .bin file for an '86 A body with 2.8L and MPFI and there was no parameter to select number of cyl's or cyl. displacement, seems those ECM's were application specific. The 1986 Cimarron came with a i4 and a v6, could the PCM for a v6 run a v8?
like mentioned, if its batch fire, the batch fire could probably run TBI
I own an 85 C4 and can probably answer a few questions about the dash. There's 2 in my local yard. They both have the clusters, but both look like they've been on fire. That or the plastic is oxidized like old car headlights in the sun for too long. Perhaps I can fix that. I'll pick it up next time I'm out there. If memory serves correct, the Firebirds also had a digital cluster. I'm also pretty sure that it's an oddball shape, so it wouldn't fit regardless.
Thanks for your help!
Edit:
I'm just starting to look at the wiring diagrams for the C4 cluster.... this is NOT going to be fun to wire up. If I want all of it to work I will have to custom install all the sensors that the corvette has that the trucks don't.
For example....
Ambient temperature sensor
Oil temperature sensor
Cruise control interface
Many more...
Though, there is good news. All of the readouts for vitals (OP, Volts, temp, tach, etc. is all ran off their own inputs, and NOT controlled by serial data. Looks like it also gets it's speed signal from the ECM. Here's my diagrams I'm looking at:

This is going to take a lot longer than I thought....
I think that's when Cadillac wanted to make a small car, didn't go over so well because people wanted a real Cadillac. Now they're all small little P'sOS.OMG, the Cimarron.
Here's one that sold recently, the instrument cluster and the car that comes with it.

Thanks for the info. The wiring diagram I posted was for an '89, and the '84 diagram is vastly different. I'm getting my diagrams from this website, which is an awesome website I found looking for some wiring on my Volvo. It's a great website with a lot of makes and models. Here's the diagrams it lists for the '84.I own an 85 C4 and can probably answer a few questions about the dash.
The early C4 "Atari" dash gets the speedometer signal directly from the speed sensor in the transmission. If you want to use the oil temperature, I would suggest getting the one from the car you got the dash from. I don't believe there are aftermarket replacement sendors for that. There is no ambient air temperature feature for the dash.
The cruise control is run by the dash in early C4s. The speed on your wiring diagram is an output- the ECM would use it for either the TCC in the autos or the electronic overdrive in the 4+3 manual.
I have 6 91 clusters with 3 matching harnesses which would be much simplerYou must be registered for see images attach
This could be a problem for you, your truck uses a 0-90 ohm resistor so the gauge may work but it will give a false reading. You may be able to compensate by adding a 30 ohm resistor to your adapter harness inline with the fuel sensor wire.
