By far Tide laundry detergent has gotten it done for me over all the specialized carpet cleaners.

Simple Green for me.

I've had good luck with a cleaning concentrate called "LA's Totally Awesome" for the deep stains, Tuff Stuff and Chemical Guys is what I use for "light" cloth cleaning.
