I put 5100’s in my former 2018 Z71 and it was a massive upgrade. Might be more of an indictment on the garbage factory Rancho’s.
It’s both, the 5100’s are that good and the factory rancho’s are that bad.

I put Fox’s on my 16 Duramax with 4800 miles on it. 3 of the 4 rancho’s had zero rebound.

Just a few throwback photos today. My dad’s birthday is today and he would have been 72. He passed away at 57. I came across these and thought it fitting. My brother sold the ‘88 Cheyenne about 10 years ago and he’s regretting it now lol. 350 with a 5 speed made it pretty peppy.

Holy crap, it’s time for an update!!

A lot will hate it, but I’m drooling over here. Took a run up to the shop today to take a look how everything is going. BDS forgot to send some of the hardware for the lift so the front is not completely done yet. The rear is done; I went with the block and add a leaf for now. Both front and rear differentials are swapped to the Yukon Grizzly 4:56 gears.

Exhaust has to be modified to clear the front driveshaft so he is going to run all new 3” exhaust from the engine back.

And last, but certainly not least, the wheels. These things are insane and my jaw dropped when I saw it on the truck. Tires are going to be mounted tomorrow.

Mate, I absolutely love this truck, but I have to point out 2 major issues that you may or may not have already realized by now. Firstly, if you don't put some really wide flares over those tires they will destroy that beautiful paint in no time with all the stones that will be thrown at the guards. Secondly, those lift blocks in the rear are going to have a huge lever effect when accelerating and braking, the axle will move forward when accelerating hard and will move back under heavy braking. This will also cause the pinion angle to change drastically and the driveshaft will push in or pull out as the diff moves. You would be far better to have a set of springs re arched to suit the lift or move the hangers down to eliminate the lifting blocks all together. I feel bad criticizing such a great project but you have come so far to not at least consider the potential damage that may occur.

Don’t feel bad, I take no offense at all.

I plan on doing a paint correction in the spring to fix any buffer swirls and then a ceramic coating to add some durability to the paint. I understand I’ll get some stone chips here and there. That was the main reason for the rocker guard on the lower portion of the body. Honestly, it likely will only be driven a few thousand miles a year and I don’t know if that’s enough to hurt it too bad.

For now the lift blocks will have to do. I’ve looked at all new leafs and the thought crossed my mind so it may be something I decide to do in the future.

The wheels stick out too far for my liking. I do, however, like the wheel design and I think the chrome finish contrasts very well with color of your truck. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
Not gonna lie, they stick out pretty far lol. I do think once there is a tire mounted on them it won’t look as bad.
