I'd say it depends on how much money you want to spend.
I've been tinkering with LS stuff for 18 years and only messed with the older SBC stuff a few times so not that knowledgeable about their different setups.
I just know a few LS setups that work great and get good gas mileage.

For instance we did a simple setup on my buddy's 98 RC 2wd.
Factory 2007 5.3, isky turbo cam (212/212 .561/.56161 114), circle D 3200 stall, 4L80E, factory 10 bolt w/ 3.42s and Detroit Trutrac.
Rear mount 76/68mm turbo @16psi
It ran 11.2@119mph and drove it everyday.
Beat the snot out of it for 6 years before he had a trans cooler line leak fluid out and burnt the trans..

I had a extended cab 1500 2wd with a 6.0/4l80e/3.42s
Front mount 75mm and ran low 12s on 8psi.
Even towed my buddy's truck to the track cause he didn't want to drive on his slicks.
Towed triple what the truck was rated for a bunch of times. Put almost 225,000 miles on that setup and never had a issue.

Simple setups that were really fun.

Most my other buddy's were fooling with the TBI stuff and tried building some 355 and 383s. They fought the TBI tuning for years before giving up.

I like the LS swaps cause I know more about them.
We never touched the rings or any of that, throw a turbo cam in and go have fun.

First time I took my turbo truck to the track I out ran a bolt on SRT10 truck. Ended up knowing the guy.
He was never happy with that truck and he is a Mopar freak. His best was only a 12.5.
I was runnin 12.3s by the end of the night.
They are heavy and heat soak pretty bad.

Thank you to those who were supportive and helpful
I meant no disrespect in any of my comments, sorry if they came off as such. It seems, to me, like you're new to the speed game, I'm just trying to give you some insight from someone who has ben wrenching on racecars for years.

4.10s, loose converter, and a 150 shot ftw. itll take it or youll get that 383 sooner

Biggershaft has it is simple terms. 4.10 (prolly more) with posi, a good yank or circle D 3500ish converter, some 28X10 slicks and spray dope till it blows and you're all over that SRT10.

I know everyone wants this thread to die, but don't fear nitrous... I have ran nitrous on many stock rotating assemblies and never blown an engine. It's all in the tune and don't get greedy. Learn to read plugs and how to tune.

LS6 250 shot
Zz502 200 shot
3v 4.6 175 shot
05 Titan 125
04 Altima 3.5 75 shot

i hate lining up against a nitrous car. its distracting when you focus on the lights and hear a big kaboom as they try to leave. plus, it kills that lane till the crew gets it cleaned up.
