yes, and the early 2000s our food supply took a unique priority in "national security" considerations.

so the guy who got fired because i found he falsified HACCP (legally, very very important in this context. overall concern to public would be low since they were necks, which arent used for very much human food BUT they still do) about product temperatures, because he lost his job sucks but he could also be in federal court facing a high felony lol.

Fun fact about that incident, the man I reported him to (his direct supervisor) was annoyed he had to deal with it , which was funny, but I told him in front of HIS boss who whipped him into action the moment she realized he was probably going to put it under a rug. (which i would not have , and she knows that very intimately). The employee was fired within the hour heh.. but the supervisor who didnt want to do nothing ended up losing his job a few months later, and became an alcoholic. Sadly, a year ish later he killed someone in a drunk driving crash, his passenger, and fled the scene. Eventually they caught him, and he sat in jail on high dollar bail. He eventually made bail, and instantly fled the country. probably wont ever be justice on this matter.

Jeez i dont think that was very fun... rip
Unfortunately there are probably a lot of stories like this....more than we'll ever know unless we get to see them or be involved in them.

Most people don't have any idea how much work goes into making the things we eat, or what is involved in keeping these products and procedures safe and healthy.
or how it is transported from place to place. People see the refrigerated trailers/rail car but thats it. Some don't know what it takes to keep them running or fixed in a timely manner to keep that product good. I work in this field and it sucks when its 100 degrees and your trying to save what might end up on your plate.
