Hi. I'm joining this forum because in my youthful naivety three or so years ago, I made the very stupid decision to purchase my uncle's '99 C2500 for my first car after they died from their wife for about a grand, figuring that since the mileage was only about 100K, I could get a decent truck for cheap up front and have repairs done on it as I went.
Unfortunately, it turned out that the truck was treated like absolute garbage while it was owned by my uncle during their lifetime and after about 10K in repair costs over the course of three years (including a full long block replacement after a failed thrust bearing due to low oil pressure), I have decided that considering I'm already in in this truck so deep and that the repair costs are not likely to get any more sustainable in the future, I have to learn to start doing work myself, or at the very least, be capable of crowdsourcing the knowledge required to be able to understand if I am being scammed by my mechanic or not (my latest bill that motivated me to join this forum and make this post is going to be around 1.2K to fix a complete lockout from a fault in the anti-theft module).
I wish I could be joining this forum in better times but my financial situation is becoming grave from having owned this vehicle and I can't afford to be as ignorant as I am about the field of car maintenance any more.
