Monroe didn't really butcher them...

I don't recall exactly where, but I've seen a picture where someone had very poorly torched the bottom off the crossmember. It was supposed to be a Monroe, and standard practice, for them as stated by the person posting.

There's a picture floating around of an insanely low 3500HD 4x4; I think I have the picture saved somewhere.
Following the thread though; always wanted an HD but I'm content with my K2500 and K3500, they'll do everything I want them to do.

---EDIT----
Found it.

There can't be much functional rear suspension travel...

Interesting that they're still using leaf springs. Not my desire but interesting.

Now I've got a problem. I was gonna build a Suburban; Escalade interior, Escalade exterior, 1 ton axles, SAS, Duramax swap, lots of other stuff (Kodiak handles, floorshift automatic, etc). But after seeing the render of this hypothetical 3500HD, I'm starting to look for C3500HDs to throw a solid axle and a wrecked GMT800 with a good 6.6 Duramax and Allison trans. Maybe even find a flatbed, an older truck camper, and do the Escalade interior and exterior swap (if I can carry over the fenders and grill, knowing C3500HDs, likely not). I might need a better welder....

I think there's a bit of a skirt to the flatbed, that's why it looks so low.

I think most aftermarket conversion companies used leaf springs; everything I've seen that's been SAS'd like Monroe trucks or Quigley vans have been leaf sprung.
Coils/3-link could be the key to a reasonable height 4x4 route on an HD though.

The air ride would be for ride when empty and load control when loaded. It could also be used in a pinch to potentially clear minor obstacles.

Spring under. I cant remember why they did spring up vs under, wanna say there was much more involved. I know the axle is different, under doesn't have the perch cast into the axle. But that does look sweet tho! I was bored yesterday and found a CC HD not far from me. Looks solid, 2wd of course......
