I was thinking of an auxiliary tank but I couldn't figure a reliable, sensible, and easy way to execute without having to severely modify any body panels on the truck, or having a big ass slip tank eating up space in my bed.
My truck being a short bed, I think it's got a 24 gallon tank? Like I said, I hadn't put much thought into it other than the idea.

26 gallon, I've seen a max of 25.5 gallons on a fill-up on my 1500. I measured about 7 gallons worth of space in front of the stock tank that could be fabbed into an aux tank IIRC. Can also pop one of these bad boys into the bed.

Only thing with it is it's 9" wide and I don't want to lose the ability to stack a bunch of 4x8 anything in the back of either truck.

Also - I don't really see how that is better than just carrying gas cans.

My 06 suburban 2500 has an auxiliary gas tank, I think it's around 7 gallon. Total fuel capacity iirc is 38 gallons. I don't really know how it's wired or connected. Just see a smaller tank behind the rear bumper. There's no switching inside for the tank.

I read on a forum somewhere else that there's a fuel pump in EACH tank. I should probably try to find the wiring diagrams just to learn what the components are.

Maybe that's an option for you since already have the 0411 ECU? Just snag one of those tank assemblies and figure out the wiring? Although 7 gallon increase may not be completely worth it?

Got a pic? My Z06 has saddle tanks, I think the one without a pump for the engine has a transfer pump.

I'll see if I can get you a good pic. I have an EVAP leak on that truck I'm not able to find. That's when I saw it. I think I gave up on it. I haven't been down there since.

Nice! Here are the photos I just took. It looks like the filler neck goes down to the aux tank, then there's hoses to the main saddle tank. I think one of the photos shows the part number for the aux tank.
