On the K3500 with BW transfer, there is a red wire that powers the synchronizer in the transfer case. This power wire comes from a 4x4 relay under the hood, that only one ton Borg Warner trucks have (my understanding). Is this supposed to be powered while in 2wd or 4wd. A GM service book states it is de-energized when placed in 4wd....wanted to verify that.

I have no idea, but I do know that if you unplug that relay for whatever reason and accidentally bend a pin when you plug it back in, you'll only have 2-low. I assumed the relay was for the front differential actuator, if you're talking about the one mounted on the firewall above the distributor.
