Looking at new tires for my 99 K2500 Suburban. I have H2 Wheels, and have been running a 285/70R17. I need new tires, currently have BFG K02's I have only put about 2000 miles on the truck, I bought the wheels/tires used. I bought them mostly for the wheels, but the added benefit was that they got me through a year.

Tires are currently very low on tread, as well as weather checked pretty bad, with uneven wear(from whatever vehicle they came off).

So now shopping for new tires, I'm looking at wither the BFG KO2($1287) or Falken Wildpeak AT/3W ($1132). Prices are before tax and installation. These are both load range E tires.

Primary use is going to be commuting, and off-road, overlanding, hunting etc. I will tow occasionally, but overall I don't plan to hit any severe trails, but I do enjoy having fun off-road.

From what I can see the pro's for the Wildpeak over the BFG are: price, tread depth, warranty(55k vs 50k).

Any personal experience/ input is welcome.

I have no experience with the Falkens, but I run the BFG KO2s on both of my '97s. The KO2s are awesome. Great traction in every condition I've run them in (including heavy snow) and their road noise is extremely minimal. I'm going to keep buying them as long as BFG keeps making them.

Well there you go.

Probably can't go too wrong with either choice, I've heard that Falken makes a good tire.

I run the falkens on my 97 and also ran them on my Camry.

Well now I feel like we need pictures of this off-road Camry...

Well, after having the Wildpeak AT3 I can tell you I WILL be buying another set this coming summer. These have a tick over 49,000 miles on them. Mostly poor quality pavement and chip-n-seal roads. Towing ALL THE TIME, some mud and snow driving mixed in, I even backed a trailer too close to the edge of the lake and the rear tires sunk in BAD. I locked it in 4x4, unloaded the watercraft, and just pulled right back out. I DID NOT try to load back up in that same spot LOL! Rotated maybe every 7-8k miles. Zero tire hum or growl, even at low speed with the windows down. Mine are 275/65-16 so pretty tall sidewall and they still don't feel squishy when cornering. No feathering on the edges like some AT's will do on a 4x4. All around I just have nothing negative to say about them. Pics of a rear, front, then the rig.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I do the tire chalk test on all my rigs so I know I'm running the CORRECT tire pressure. This alone I've noticed to make 10k or more wear difference.

Ordered the Falkens. Les Schwab was ridiculous. They could order the Falkens but for 100/tire more than Tire Rack. Also highly discouraged me from ordering them and having them installed. The tires they quoted me were all more expensive than the Falkens, and brands I had never heard of. Installation was going to be twice as much as Commercial Tire. Overall not impressed.

That's too funny! You run the Falkens AND have Kanati's. I run the Falkens AND have the Kanati 'Trail Hog' on my wife's F150!
That is funny. I like the kanatis, they’re just on the noisey side for a truck I use for road trips and people hauling.
