I have a 1997 GMC 1500 4X4 405 5 speed. I was wondering if getting a stage 2 chip or a cold air I take or something else would help me get better gas mileage or better performance?

The common consensus around here is that these trucks don't get much gains except by changing your driving style. Make sure it's running good and not getting terrible gas mileage, then stay off the fun pedal.

Just to drive back and forth to work. About 49 miles a day.

If you want good gas mileage sell the truck and buy a little car. These trucks are not known for their economy.

You can get about 20 mpg IF everything is running perfect and you change your driving style. If you're needing more than that look elsewhere.

I am the only owner of this truck. I bought it when I was 26 and it had 5 miles on it. I just had it repainted and hopefully going to restore it back to better days. Thanks for the replies.
