I just did a write up here on the oil cooler adapter gaskets, orings, and connectors. The ONLY way for one of those oil cooler lines to separate from the connector is if the W clamp that holds those lines together and to the engine block, which is below the power steering pump, was not secured around the two oil cooler lines. They hold the lines from even moving at all forward or rearward even in the least bit. When you replace the parts, MAKE SURE you secure the lines in that clamp, or this will happen again.

Agreed. In post #11, it's important that the clamp is in place and tight as any vibration with fixed hardware is detrimental to longevity. Any flex , vibration is absorbed by the hoses. :waytogo:

Yep, I think that's what caused the clip to wear out quickly. The W clamp AND the bolt that holds the whole bracket on were loose. The lines were able to move around pretty freely as I was able to pull both of them out of the fittings without loosening the clamp. I'm still going to modify the lines the way GoToGuy said, but I put new plastic clips in this morning and tightened the bracket down good to get me by for a week or two.

Well, it seems ok. After fixing the fittings and putting oil in it, I pulled the fuel pump fuse and turned over untill I got steady oil pressure on the guage. Then I put the fuse back, started it, and let it get up to full running temp. I also let the oil warm up and get down to about 30 (halfway on the guage). No bad or abnormal noises and it's running fine. It sounded good and steady when it was turning over and no blow by. I drove it a bit from miled to moderate acceleration and got it to about 3500 rpm accelarating. No leaks and everything seems normal so I hope it stays that way.
