Hmm ive been noticing this issue as well. Not a spec of rust on my truck but ill have to check out the u bolts.

Also check out the trans mount. I think for me it's probably more the broken trans mount and the worn our shackle bushings and not the U Bolts. But I'm just going to go ahead and replace them all anyway. U bolts are only $7 or $8 each on RockAuto.com.

Glad you seemed to have fixed the problem.
I like the kit in the link above as well, but being a 1 ton, 2wd looking at a 4" drop in the rear, the site says it ain't gonna work,- use factory stuff. Not enough clearance to the frame.
