I just broke the rear ear for mounting the alternator. I'm guessing that i can't JB weld it and I would have to get a replacement. Is there a part number for the bracket?

Thank you

EDIT: can I make up a steel bracket and screw it into the ear and the rest of the bracket? Could I get it aluminum welded?

(I've tried getting the P/S pulley off before, and I couldn't. I want to avoid having to take it off, or getting a new pulley and reservoir)

Buy a power steering pulley puller/installer. Will save you a bunch of headaches.

Some pictures would help of what broke & a possible remedy.

Just posted some pictures. I tried using a puller before, and the pulley did not want to come off

Yeah there a real ******* some times but they do come off with a good puller/installer. You just need to make sure your using the right parts and not pushing on the pull you're try to take off.

I have good little puller, got from KD tools. Looong time ago.
I used it at Ford, UA garage, the ranch, etc. Works great for the small diameter. In fact the Ford guys liked it better than the first factory tool. It was a good price , not Mac, Snappy prices. It's now produced by a bunch of tool sellers. Power built, PT tools. , and others. Its able to change grip length and other adjustments . And a

Could it be possible to solder it? My boss called a used auto parts store, they have it, but haven't heard anything since. This was 2 weeks ago

Very doubtful it can be repaired. You'll want to keep hunting for a replacement bracket, IMO. You can use the bracket from a small block (5.0 or 5.7) TBI from 1990-1995, or also from same year 4.3 V6 as long as it's from another GMT400 truck. Can't speak for the brackets used in other models; don't know if they would be the same.

Try searching car-part dot com where you can enter your zip code to get nearby boneyards that might be able to help. Don't know where in PA you are but I just looked it up using 19102 (Philly) as a zip code and found a lot of results for "Alternator bracket" and 1990-1995 year range.

Not sure if any of them are close to you but one of them might agree to ship it, or they may be able to put it on the "hotline" to see if a yard near you has it. That is, if the "hotline" is a thing anymore in these modern times. Used to be all the yards were on constant speakerphone in a given area and someone would request a part, and the yards that had it would all start chiming in.

Watch out for errors - I did see one listed claimed to be a 1995 model but it's the one-piece steel bracket for everything. That is 1988-1989. Don't get that piece.
