Going to throw something at you, and if it's something you already know, I apologize. Your alternator will not regulate its output like earlier trucks. The LS alternators used the PCM for voltage regulation. The alternator defaults to a constant 13.8 vdc no matter the load applied to the electrical system. When you apply the resisted voltage to the connector, that just excites the field (turns on the alternator) to start the charge. The excited voltage of 13.8 is 80%-100% duty cycle and my shorten the alternator lifespan. You may want to look into getting a single wire alternator seeing as how you aren't using an LS pcm
