The door was misaligned badly, the prev owner had adjusted the striker to compensate, and it would only catch on the first latch. So it rattled going down the road, if it rained hard enough, water leaked in.

Door aligned correctly with the new bushings, the lower bottom one popped right out with my finger.

The other accomplishment was a new air dam, the keen observer will see what the future holds. I got the new hardware kit with the new air dam $39 all from LMC truck, it was well worth the extra $10. All of my stuff was original and barely came apart.

The junkyard had another 89 c1500 with a 5 speed, so I grabbed up everything I could. So far I’ve grabbed up the engine harness, dash harness, column, clutch pedal (cause my son wants to convert his auto to manual).

All that because, I’ve been chasing a wiring issue with the wipers, I made a separate post about that. So far I found a jerry rigged section that was part of the wiper harness. It had a bare wire, a jumper w/ a fuse, and some other garbage I’ll sort out later.

However, for now I toss in the junkyard column and wiring harness to get it back on the road.

I did this a couple weeks ago, but the conversion was relatively easy. The tach isn’t accurate, nor is the speedometer, I believe it’s set for 3.42’s and 265/75’s, and I have 3.73’s with 28.5”/29” tires, whatever 235/75 converts to. It reads 5 faster than actual travel speed.

Disregard brake light on dash, I’m sure it’s part of my wiring fiasco, the park brake isn’t set mostly because there’s no cables.

SES light is low voltage to tps, egr, and map. All of them have been changed, still get a light.

Scraped off most of the old delaminated tint on back glass. This is in preparation for new tint at some point in the future.

Still slowly working on this rig, mostly paint at this point. Went to pick n pull and got myself a bumper w/o the ugly trim, it’s now wearing body color.

Upon doing all the “lipstick on a pig” work, I’ve discovered every single corner of the fiberglass bed is cracked in some form or fashion. So when I find a good short fleetside bed, I’ll go that route. I’m just not interested in spending upwards of a grand for another stepside bed, when fleetside beds are substantially cheaper and easier to come by. Plus the tailgate on the stepside is really damaged, and the bed floor has waves in it from being overloaded.
