I bought my 95 last fall with the manual version of the extendable tow mirrors already installed. I like the mirrors, but not the manual adjustment. Besides the lower piece of glass being broken for some reason the passenger side keeps needing adjusted and the manual adjustment always requires more than one attempt. I also realized this winter how accustomed I’ve become to having heated mirrors in other vehicles.

Overall, I am leaning toward buying another set of tow mirrors that are power adjustable and heated. I personally don’t care for the lighted options so would be skipping that.

My question comes down to best approach for wiring. From reading on here I came across info that on non-power mirror trucks the plug from the cross-body harness can be found tucked into the kick panel area. I think I have located this on the pass side-picture.

Would the in door wiring also be in place or do I need to locate a pair of door harnesses to add power mirrors? Since I want heated mirrors, would that also have been included in 95 or am I going to have to run additional wiring for that? I’m planning to head out to the local pick n pull tomorrow so hoping to score anything I might need to grab while there, including the door panel insert with the switch. Can I just grab anything from 95-98 Suburban since I need one that has 4 door window switch?

Well, I made it out to the yard this afternoon and lucked out finding a 99 Yukon to grab the pass side wiring and a 99 Suburban for the driver side door harness. I say lucked out because the doors had already been torn open saving me a bunch of time. I got this for $15 to boot! I’ll follow up when I finally get around to this project.

The wiring for the mirror controls should be the same in the Suburban/Yukon. I’m pretty sure heated mirrors weren’t an option in a GMT400.

If you get the climate control out of a Suburban, or Yukon, they’ll have the button and timing for the rear defrost and you can use that for the heated mirrors. If you don’t care about keeping it looking as factory as possible, you can get an aftermarket switch for the heated mirrors. Definitely want to make sure it is fused, whichever way you go.

I don’t have power anything in my 93 so I’ve been planning on adding heated Dodge tow mirrors to mine. I’ll probably keep them manual and just add the rear defrost circuits from a pre 95 Suburban or Yukon.

99 Tahoe, heated side mirrors, controlled by the rear window defrost. Sorry about the bad pic but the legend is in the corner.

Yeah the later models, especially uplevel, got heated power mirrors on both sides. Some even got auto-dimming on the driver side controlled by the windshield rearview mirror. 97 or older? Nah, if you had power mirrors you were cool. Only the SUVs got them from 92-94, 88-94 pickups never had power anything mirror-related.
