A/C compressor short cycling, a bit of advise please.

Orifice tube installed in the wrong fitting on the condenser maybe? Flow should be trying to push the orifice tube into the liquid line, not into the condenser. If the orifice tube was mistakingly installed in the discharge line from the compressor ahead of the condenser that would explain the high system pressure as well as that pressure shoving the orifice tube into the condenser.

How about the fact that I had the lines hooked up incorrectly. Thanks for pointing that out. I might not have ever figured it out.Now maybe,,,, I can finish this part of my project.

The orifice tube on the Gmt 400's is in the condenser it self.

Not all. I was pretty sure my orifice tube was in a separate line. I checked the manual, and in '88-91 the orifice tube is in a single piece of A/C line.

Well that is different, it is in the condenser on my '90 c1500. It must either be an specific assembly plant install or a mid year change.

My Tahoe does not have an orifice tube in the condensor either.

I can confirm my 88 has the orifice tube, and high side test port, in the same place as Erik's

If my '98 was built like that I'll bet that I would not have had so much trouble getting my A/C charged
