What do you mean by “oiling plastic”. What do you use and does it rejuvenate it?
I was going to use Boiled Linseed Oil as I've heard good things about using that on old plastics. Friend of mine swore Tung Oil is better in every way, shape, and form. . . So I got some of that.

So far I've tested on a couple of pieces and the ABS seems to be happy with it. This is my attempt to add some oils back. I considered the heating method, but from past experience it's very easy to get it kind of splotchy, and I always worry about overdoing it.

If you want something meant for detailing I also really like Mothers VLR, and the Back to Black Trim and Plastic Restorer. I have both in the garage, was just trying something new.

Here's a pic of the ductwork going to the ceiling. I wiped it all with a rag with a few drops of tung oil. Hopefully it will help keep it from getting brittle.

Couple of short drives again today. Definitely enjoying the improvements. At idle I can barely tell it's running. It's more comfortable all around. . .still a truck chassis with load assist shocks in the back though lol.

Need some of that magnetic suspension, or air ride, and it would really feel like a Caddy.

Loving having low speed out of the rear vents, but i notice med and high don't have the same airflow now. Guess I should just suck it up and buy a new resistor.

Un related to interior, or really anything else in this thread other than perhaps voltage drop with all the ac fans on on max. . . . I swapped in my 250 amp fleabay alternator. I don't think I've ever seen the gauge so firmly on 14v. Turning every single fan to the max, and turning on my aux condenser fan it still sits unmoved at 14v.

Before it would drop significantly with everything maxed. Very satisfying and a quick swap. Only had to bend the heater hard pipe a bit, and then I ground down the one ear of the new alternator slightly. It fit with my belt too, although just. So I should probably get the proper longer belt. Curious to see if there is any improvement from having a constant, proper voltage always.

Forgive me for my ignorance, or if I missed where and why you stated it, but why did you take apart the interior just to replace the compressor?

Because I wanted to do it properly, and that meant blowing out all of the lines, both evaporators, and replacing the expansion valve in the back. Have to take out several interior pieces, to get the big interior panel removed, to access the rear blower box.

From there it was uncovering rust and 26 years of dust/dirt, so I just kept going with disassembly. Lol I kept thinking "Well, I'll probably never have it this far apart again, might as well do that now." As usual that's snowballed into a much larger project than I set out to do. I still say it has all been absolutely worth it.

Well new-ish problem. My TCCM is acting up again. It did this a while back. All lights on the switch on, Service 4x4 illuminated. Doesn't want to accelerate properly. Feels like the front axle is engaged.

No codes most of the time, then last scan I did get a B2725 saying bad switch. . . . wondering if this is related to moisture since I shampooed the carpets.

Seems all dry inside now though. Including my C-Pillar leak. Hard rains yesterday, and no new water. Still some slightly dampness in the rear cargo jute on the right side. . .obviously that's coming from the barn door. I need to clean those gutters out again.

Now that I figured out how to properly use the 2nd row I noticed another issue. As awesome as the Weathertech liner is, they didn't really do a good job of leaving room for the seat to slide. So I too my exacto and cut out a small channel for either rail.

It wasn't too bad, but I gave the 3rd row the steam clean / soft drill brush treatment. Also, extracted something brown out of the carpet on the back of it.

Started taking the door panels off. Both to add some butyl and foam, and also to try to tint the windows.

Not going for total coverage like the floor, because of weight, I don't want to order more material, and door panels are easy enough to remove should I decide on adding more later. (thinking it would be nice to do the entire back of the door panels in the foam at some point)

I also did put some butyl on the back side of the interior door skins. Then with the foam I only put like an 8" strip toward the bottom of the door, but made sure to leave room with both the butyl and foam at the bottom to help it keep from trapping moisture.

Still not perfect but I think I'm getting a little better at it. Hoping I can get the two front doors near perfect. This one the razor blade wasn't doing me any favors, thought I had grabbed a brand new one, but I guess not.
