The Suburban had a shorter leaf pack than the pickups, so air would be the easy option for sure. Why wouldn't it stop? Vacuum brakes? Now that you have that dually, it's time for a much bigger trailer. :cool:

Have a Vengeance Rogue 31V. Weight dry: 8400. Max loaded 10,500. Tongue weight: 1200 max. Height 12.7".
Burb has hydroboost system.
The burb was not designed to pull that tongue weight. Toy haulers pull heavy. The trailer seems to be moving the truck around. Notwithstanding, I'm running an NV3500 transmission. It ain't ideal for the GCVW. Had zero issues so far. Probably close to 18k when all in. Had a 21' Koala trailer for some years. Perfect combo. Wanted a larger camper and the rest is history.

31 foot is huge for a bumper pull. Makes sense that it was more of an overall issue, I got the impression the braking was the main issue. Now you can get a 5er.
