My '99 Burb has 215,000 and change on it(of course not driving it, since it was in the shop and still has a couple issues has helped there!). I was trying to not put too many miles on the crew cab(since it only has 126,000 and is 2 years older!). But I gotta get to work somehow....
Something else we have in common: my current '99 Burb is the second one my family's had. First one was bought in 2005 to replace the '84 square body Burb that was stolen. I think that one had under 100K but don't remember, we put a LOT of miles on it before it got totalled in late 2012 with close to 250K. My dad drove that one every day, taking my brother and I to work and running errands. You can put some miles on a vehicle quickly in greater Houston, Texas area, cause it's so big.I stand corrected, good sir. Vehicles 20+ years old can have low mileage. As for The Bus, I drive...a lot. I transport myself and my better half to work. Additionally, we have four young adult children who always needed rides; until we got them a ride of their own. That was one of the smartest moves we ever made... right up there with buying Suburbans (The Bus is technically The Bus reincarnated - she's my second of this model year.)
Looks good! Money no object, I would have a more powerful stereo in my trucks (if for no other reason, when I have to be next to some dope who wants to crank their all-bad -words rap next to me in traffic, to show what proper Texas music sounds like!) The factory single disc player and radio/cassette deck in the Burb works most of the time, if played too long in really warm weather it shuts off. The crew cab has the radio and cassette deck but the deck doesn't work. No disc player, but I have several units from the yards that look like they'll work once installed. It's just going to take a weekend off with nice weather (that I'm not trying to do 16 other things) to swap stuff out..... This weekend is raining and next weekend I will probably be in Alvin helping my friend with the move....but my goal is to have new tunes in by mid April for our trip to Lone Star Roundup. If weather permits I want to take the crew cab with tables and parts in the bed, and merch in the U Haul trailer.....You must be registered for see images attach
Not sure whom else here enjoys music as loud as I do...I play electric guitar, as such, I'm no stranger to volume. Here's my current amp rack located on the back of The Bus's third-row seat. Pardon the mess of wires - 'tis a work in progress.
Top left is my subwoofer amplifier - a P1000X1bd. Top right is my full-range amp - a P600X4 - pushing all four doors and rear headliner speakers. On the bottom, my capacitor, which takes some of the strain off of my battery when there is a lot of current being drawn.
Speaking of current, I've replaced the stock Delphi 90-amp alternator The Bus came with several times: I tried an ACDelco 140-amp alternator for a short while which proved short on power; then installed a PowerMaster 225-amp alternator which I never had problems out of. The PowerMaster was in service for about two years until recently when I upgraded to a MechMan 400-amp alternator due to ongoing audio system upgrades.
I suppose that's all...for now.![]()
