ONE tank of contaminated fuel can plug a fuel filter.

Gasoline pumps around here used to have a spin-on filter cartridge in the hose leading to the gas nozzle that went into the fuel fill neck of your vehicle. Those obvious filter cartridges have gone away. I hope there's still a filter in the pump somewhere.

Update. Fuel pump went bad, but after looking at the tank it still had contaminants in it. Instead of cleaning it again, a new tank was installed.
