97 l31 shocking distributor

kind of a strange one. i noticed while setting my cam sensor that the base of my distributor has a noticable current flowing through it. (its an aluminum replacement) changed cap rotor sensor plugs and wires. and it doesnt pop you like a wire but you can definitely
feel the current
