I installed the bushings my front springs a few years ago so my memory is a little iffy, but I think I laid the spring flat, greased the bushing and slipped it in, flipped the springs, inserted the sleeve into the bushing then aligned the next bushing over the sleeve and used a rubber mallet to send it home. I did have a hell of a time getting the springs into the hangers. You’ve probably tried all of that already. Also, if there is a coating in the spring eye, such as powder coat, it might not let the bushing into place
I don't think I tried that method with the bushings but I will do that. and yea it was a huge pain getting the leaves to line up. good point about the coating on the springs, I think alcan springs are submerged in paint before shipping so i'll definitely clean out the spring eyes too

here is the exhaust I ordered if anyone is looking for part numbers for themselves. I wanted an exhaust that would mostly fit perfectly into place with minimal welding. and with 5.13 gears and 38s I didn't want a loud exhaust adding to the noise

- jegs 555-31006 y-pipe
- dynomax 54020 intermediate pipe, no cats, also purchased from jegs. will have to get non-foulers for the o2 sensors.
- walker quiet flow SS 21400 muffler, dual 2.5" inlet, single 2.5" outlet
- walker 55315 tailpipe

all of these should fit into the stock exhaust location with the stock exhaust hangers and I'll replace the insulators while i'm at it. also will have the factory single exit on the passenger side which should help a lot with road noise as well. especially compared the the turndowns right after the flowmaster 40 series that was on the truck before

I was also having a doozy of a time finding wide-ish 17" wheels. best I could find were pro comp steelies, 17x9 with 4.25" backspace. I wanted less backspace so I wouldn't have to run spacers on the front to keep the tires off of the leaf springs when making sharp turns. I ordered some from diamond racing, i think it was $1400 including shipping.

I've gotten a little bit done here and there. so many projects going on I whittle a little away here and there as I have time. got the leaf springs mounted and the frame plates from WFO welded on

had to trim the inner fender on the passenger side for better access to the frame rail, similar to how I trimmed the other side for the steering box bolts. also trimmed some of the frame plate so I could reach the front upper corner with the mig gun and get a full weld on it

finished up re-gearing and rebuilding the dana 60. had to strap it down to the trailer to be able to torque the kingpins to 600 ft-lbs. torqueing the pinion nut to 240 was a huge pain because of the axle being on jackstands on the floor, but having it strapped down and using a big 3/4" breaker bar made easy work of it. bought a torque adapter thingy from harbor freight to measure torque. $65 for this vs. $300+ for a 3/4" torque wrench, easy choice

axle is hung, had to carve out a bit of the webbing on the center section to allow the u-bolt for the flip kit to mount correctly

I have yukon 35 spline stubs and yukon hardcore hubs. I wanted the usa-made east coast gear stub shafts but they were out of stock, so indian made it is :supergay:

I have WFO's brake brackets to use 00-10 2500hd brakes, it requires the hubs to be machined down to allow for a slip-fit rotor. once those are back from the shop I can finish putting the axle together
