    I wouldn't choose to but if my alternator goes out and I need one, say I am on a road trip or camping somewhere and can't choose my replacement alternator, then I can get on the road and deal with it when home. I like options because I am also not big on being stranded on the side of the road.

    This may seem like a dumb question but will this also work for a 1988 chevy c1500 with the 5.0?
    Please help.

    The P/N that used to show up in the description of the alternator is 13-41K. This is it...with extras, I don't recall my kit as having the brass bolts for side terminal batts: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/RSE21341K

    Big thanks to everyone who posted on this thread. I went CS130 -> AD230 -> Big 3 -> AD244.

    CS130 was an Autozone rebuild unit that worked accordingly
    AD230 was a Driveworks refurb bought cheap out of a wrecked tahoe
    AD244 is a Ultima Select O'Reilly's crap.

    I think for most folks with a daily driver beater like mine, the AD230 is a simple swap with great results. It doesn't require a new belt, the stock wiring was "sufficient" for the output, etc.

    Now, the AD244. This thing is a beast. Throw anything at it and your voltage gauge barely budges.

    I have a 1993 chevy 2500, and beed to replace the alternator.
    Would like something at around 140 amps...
    What is the easiest way to do this?
